If you are managing people, if you want to maximize the assets they bring to an organization this book is a must read. Tom Harvey has created a "how to guide" for building teams like no other. Fifteen years later the information and practices in this book are still the most helpful to manage, support and develop high functioning teams. The day to day conflicts that cross the organizational leader's desk are readily addressed by use of the strategies found on the pages of this book. Read it and read it again and again.

This is a must read for anyone in leadership. When working with two or more people, it is important to establish clear expectations of how groups are to work together. Harvey and Drolet's book is laid out in a simplistic format, easy to read, with simple procedural steps to follow to build teams of people to work productively for a common vision. Emphasis is placed laying strong foundation for the group and then identifying the importance of conflict and managing it.A nice follow up to this book is The Practical Decision Maker by Harvey, Bearley and Corkrum. This book takes the next step and gives specific tools and strategies on how to harness and direct the conflict to elevate the team to higher levels of thinking and reaching stronger decisions.

This book was a required reading for me but I would recommend it to any manager, employee and to all organizations who value the team approach. It is an easy read and it puts common knowledge into an easy to follow format. It is very informative and it makes you look at what your place of work does and does not do to help promote a successful environment.

This is a copy/paste from my Goodreads reviewI was introduced to this book through the International Children's Literature course I'm taking this semester. It's a wonderful class providing me with many opportunities to read books published in other countries in order to learn more about the people who live in those countries which is something all us self-centered Americans need to do. For American children, this may be one of the only books out there describing what life is like for non-whites in a country outside the United States.I really liked this story, it was published in 1986 and in the wake of Nelson Mandela's death last year it can definitely be classified now under historical fiction as most realistic fiction being published today contains too many graphic details while this book is refreshingly innocent and full of hope in a country divided by apartheid. The characters are real and they deal with their problems in a realistic way. Their dialogue is also sprinkled with words from their own native language so the reader can better understand this culture.The 3rd person narrative allows the reader to share the exciting journey about a thirteen year old big sister and her little brother. They decide to travel to the city of Johannesburg, South Africa in search of their mother who works for a rich white family because their baby sister is deathly ill. The village hospital could provide the proper care and treatment but their family is very poor and "Mma" (mother in the Tswana language) is the family's only source of income since their father died in a mine accident. The children are incredibly lucky as they are helped by strangers along the way and by the end of the story; both have realized they live in a white supremacy world where the tide is beginning to turn regarding the injustices against their people.The book is short, only 75 pages, but you'll wish it was longer. Because of its length I would recommend giving this book to a reluctant reader interested in what life is like for children in other countries. This is a well written story appropriate for all upper-grade readers and adults. The black and white illustrations are a nice supplement and the map at the front and glossary in the back explaining the foreign words spoken by the characters make this book an excellent example of international children's literature.

A quick read filled with many short chapters that tend to leave one wanting to read more. Lots of cliffhangers and gives you many things to reflect on. Our sons could really relate to the plight of the children and as a family we were very moved by the story. It gave us a great opportunity to talk about apartheid and relate it to the struggles that Nelson Mandela fought to end. Read this along with other books that match this same theme and it really added another dynamic to our studies. I would recommend this book whole heartedly as it seems to really capture the attention of children on a topic that is very important to understand. It creates a face to a reality that is different than our own.

This was truly an amazing book I've probably read the book five times to me and my child who is the age of twelve. It was amazing getting to read this book and whom ever is reading this I very much recommend you buy this book.

I purchased this book because my daughter had a project due based off this book. To understand how to help my daughter with her project, I read the book and I was blown away. This story takes place during the apartheid in south africa, which is similar to Jim Crow laws and racial segregation that took place here in the USA.In reading this book, I really got involved with the story. I really did not know what I was getting into but I am glad I did decide to read it .. not only to help my daughter but I got something out of it as well. I hate reading about racial segregation and the mistreating of others because color/race should never matter. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is really great to read!

This is a historically accurate book about apartheid in South Africa. I am a retired social studies teacher. I used this book to help students understand apartheid.

Overall the book was great. It was a well written story and it sends a very important message to its readers that I hope use it to make sound decision in their lives. It's a good example of what one can accomplish with determination.

In spite of Her Dom ending in a cliffhanger, I was interested enough to purchase Her Dom's Lesson. In spite of the intrigue, danger, drama, it's pretty unbelievable. I was even disappointed in the actions of Dominic. He's the reason I bought this book.There's lots more backstory on Sophia, still she's as one dimensional in this book as she was in the first. You know everything about her, yet she's not a believable character. Nothing about her background, her life with Harrison or how she came to be a part of her dom's life is believable. No self made man, like Dominic, would be pulled into her machinations. Harrison and Ramon and others were not smart enough to keep getting the upper hand on Dominic, Tucker and Shadow. Dominic came off as extremely weak in this book. Simply incredible.How could everyone believe Sophia - Dominic's parents, his secretary, and even his security. It seems that Dominic's lawyer was the only one who didn't love her. Her father's story was beyond belief. Her father, her brother and Harrison, her Sir, were all involved in the same cartel. The boss's son was doing all this for his best friend and his father allowed it. Finally, the CFO was also involved because of his precious niece. He simply could have told Dominic what was to going on and Dominic would have helped him. Nonsensical. Too many dissimilar people connected to Dominic.The secondary characters, Shadow and Tucker, made the book interesting. They were smart and funny. I have a set of books about Steele Security that I can't wait to read. Hopefully, Tucker and Shadow star in one of the books. No matter how convoluted the ending, Dominic and Sophia and both families had their HEA. Prepare to suspend reality when reading this book.

Sophia doesn’t know how to cope without Dominic, although she realises that he has Tucker following her, when he comes to her aid, but Tucker won’t talk about him, and it’s only when he doesn’t understand she realises the full extent of what was done to Dominic.Dominic can only think of revenge for both of them after what Sophia did to him, but things Tucker starts to tell him doesn’t make sense and wants her watched.When they both learn new information, Shadow lets them know they have to talk, and Dominic know they have to put it behind them.Sophia knows after talking to Dominic and her breaking his hard limits, no deception of any kind, no withholding my body from him, that there may not be a chance with him again.Dominic is struggling with the options he has, he knows he only lives once and he wants it with her, but she answered any question he asked but there’s something she’s keeping from him.With the truth finally out and nothing between them again can they make it work, with everything they have found out are their lives still in danger.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. A.D. Justice has created a wonderful sequel to Her Dom, with Her Dom's Lesson. Sophia and Dominic have both come so far as characters yet they still have further to go. Will this be together or not is the question readers will ask themselves. I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. This reader felt that the plot line and pacing were well driven by character action. The romantic scenes were well detailed where they needed to be as well as fade away focus as needed. There was steam, passion and true love woven in the romance portions of the storyline. I could identify easily with Sophia's character throughout the book. I felt that this was a great read and excellent escape. There was also a sense of action, drama and suspense tied in to the plot and subplot. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is looking for their next great read.

This book, along with Her Dom, could have been a wonderful book. The story is great, the characters well devveloped. I could have loved them both. I paid for this one and I wish I could get my money back. There is NO proofreading at all. When I have to sit and re-write many sentences mentally to make sense of what the author is trying to say, it takes all the enjoyment out of my reading. Several words at a time are duplicated right after each other, punctuation stinks, words added to sentences that don't belong, words omitted from sentences that do belong. The author paid no attention to what she was writing. My advice is to pull both books, have them proofread and then try again. Otherwise, do not charge for Her Dom's Lesson. I am very disappointed! My advice is to not pay for this book.
