I just purchased this book and it's great for a beginner [skincare crafter] like me. DIY recipes have always intrigued me, and overall this book is a good addition to my general DIY book collection. Tons of great choices for facial masks, bath concoctions, etc., however, I wish it'd have a few more recipes for facial and eye creams. The one and only eye recipe entitled "Eye Cream" is really not a cream at all, but a recipe made up of several oils. Same for the facial moisturizers on pages 28 and 29. While oils in skin care recipes are to be expected, I am not a fan of just oils. The Comfrey Infused Oil looks great, but it calls for fresh comfrey. I don't have access to fresh comfrey and it does not specify of dried can be substituted. I am assuming so, but it would have been nice for the author to state so. Another issue is when referring to other recipes within the book (as in the case of recipes within recipes), the author only provides the chapter, rather than the page. It's much faster to have the exact page than flipping through a chapter. Lastly, there is no Resource section. Still on the hunt for a better book. I have my eye on Shannon Buck's upcoming book, soon to be released.

It would have recieved 5 stars from me if all the recipes had been accurate. For example, the cocoa butter body butter said it would yield 8 ounces when it only yielded 4 ounces. That's a big difference when one is trying to figure in the costs. I ended up essentially paying double what I was anticipating to make that batch. I was extremely careful in my measuring and cooking so I know I followed the directions accurately. In the same recipe it says to add the essential oils twice in a row. Not a huge deal but sloppy editing is annoying to me. That being said, I've made two other recipes out of the book that turned out perfectly and were really quite good (the lip balm and whipped Shea body butter).

Made a few of the recipes to moisturize and tone for myself and my daughters. Happy with the results so far. They absorb quickly. Feel light. Leave my skin ever so soft. Ready to try more.

I love this book it has some of the best recipes very detailed and easy to understand with lots of information would recommend this book to anyone.

I had a lot of fun with this book-enough to purchase after borrowing from the library. I hadn't made skin care products before and the recipes were easy enough to follow. Most of the recipes I made (and I made a lot of them) turned out and I have gone back to making more of the same one when I ran out rather than searching for a new recipe from a different source. There is enough variety with several recipes covering each area: scrubs, toners, moisturizers, hair care products. . I'm surprised there weren't any for making deodorant or toothpaste. There is a small section that explains the reason for choosing the specific ingredients which is always nice to know. There are quite a few different ingredients and I found myself hunting through health stores to find various ingredients. This was fun for me and helped with stress. I could see it driving someone crazy though. To complicate things, some of the recipes involve two steps. First you make an infusion and then when that is ready you incorporate it into the actual recipe. This turned out to be a whole lot of fun. I infused witch hazel (which I had never used before) with vanilla. Once I learned how to infuse I got busy and infused coconut oil with all the leftover tea that I had. Then that was used in the lip balm recipe (which is fantastic). This also inspired me to make my own extracts. The author touches briefly on skin care and blemishes emerging with cleansing. Perhaps more discussion regarding reactive healing would enhance this book. There was no guidance on making rose petal powder which is used in several recipes. I searched the net but didn't really find much so eventually I baked the petals and then ran them through the coffee grinder ( a must have). There is a scrub recipe that is fantastic-but It involves turmeric and turned my pale skin yellow-like can't scrub it off for two days yellow. Probably some skin tones benefit but it was horrid on mine. My tub was also dyed yellow and I had to use bleach to get it off. The scrub was so amazing I actually knowingly did it all over again. However if I were to make it I wouldn't use the turmeric ( yes it's great stuff but...). There is a pre tan scrub with citrus and my understanding is that sun exposure and citrus don't go together. Several recipes involve comphrey which is not readily found in my area. Research on it revealed some controversy although for skin care is supposed to be ok. All in all this is a great book for someone who is willing to search for ingredients. I supplemented the recipes with my essential oils and learned a few new things that I can do with the roses,lavender and herbs that grow in the yard. I also learned a whole lot about the various ingredients that I have never previously used and was inspired to move further into tjHe world of making your own products.

Love the simple recipes and pictures, perfect for anyone just starting out.

First since I have a large family I cook a lot and I’m always up for new recipes. The author did a great job explaining what you need to know, from the equipment needed to the preparation and care to the directions of the recipes. I will try the Breakfast Biscuits, Fruity French Toast and the Rib Eyes for the Ravenous and so many more. The recipes take basic knowledge and heck of a lot of experience with that being said would I recommend this book to anyone? Of courseI have a lot of friends who camp now I can go along and have something to bring to the table. Therefore this book was very helpful for me. You learn something new every day now I can cook a whole meal with just a few things.

What a great idea for a book. My family and I just went camping last weekend and we made the usual sausages and steaks on the BBQ. This book has so many neat ideas on how to mix it up when camping. And the recipes are very easy to make with minimal preparation. Looking forward to try some of these recipes this summer.

A simple straight to the point book on healthy camping recipes that don't break the bank! I've always gone out and eaten foods that honestly just made me sick after a weekend of camping. I always thought that camping was like an escape where I can eat whatever I want but this book shows me all the available options I could be eating with my friends so i'll be feeling good and ready for a weekend of fun activities.

Gave this as a gift to my sister who one day hopes to live off the grid. She has thanked me many times for the book, saying she absolutely loves and uses it all the time. And from the pictures she has sent us of her latest creations...she is making some very beautiful baskets using this book.

This was written years ago so there are mostly just line drawings with a few black and white pics. It covers several basket making techniques. I like how it doesn't assume you are going to buy the materails from the craft store.

Packed with an incredible amount of well organized and useful information delivered in an engaging style. Osma understood how to care for the Earth.

Lots of interesting types of baskets made from materials you can gather your self. I am currently gathering grasses that I will make a coiled basket out of.

Although it was written years ago, the directions are very clear but may be worded differently from todays vocabulary. All of todays techniques are documented as well as a couple I have never seen! If you don't weave, it is a great book from the historical viewpoint. I just wish I'd known the author and had the chance to weave with her.

The book is filled with drawings of many different weaving patterns. There also are directions included. We are VERY excited about beginning one of the baskets. I bought this for my 5 yr old daughter who is obsessed with unicorns. And it was a hit! The illustrations and stories are everything I'd hoped they would be. We will both be enamored with this book for a long time to come.

Purchased this item to give to my dear daughter on her birthday. She is very fascinated with unicorns. I flipped throught the pages when I received it and the quality of the paper used is very good. The illustrations are whimsical and the text used is appropriate for my 10 year-old. This book will surely let her imaginations soar!

I don't even know how to put into words how beautiful this book is! ANY unicorn lover would fall in love with this book. It's full of lore and all things magical associated with unicorns. For young believers, it really caters to making unicorns seem real! Buying this on a Kindle or app, would not be the same, the actual book is too beautiful to not experience first hand.

I purchased this book for my six-year-old daughter for Christmas. So she has yet to unwrap and open it. With that being said it seems pretty cool from what I have seen. I know that she will love it. Something really unique and different for the little unicorn lover in your life.

Coming from the angle of a secret, long standing group of unicorn researchers is brilliant.I wish the coloring book was easier to get.
