The pictures of Kwanzaa are vivid. However, I had several problems with them. Forexample, the kinara on the cover should have the candles in the order red, blackand green, Yet, in other parts of the book the candles are displayed inthe correct order. Moreover, the picture featuring two girls creating zawadi, thecandles of the kinara are alternating between red, black and green- totally wrong.Conflating the order of the candles will only confuse people; the order of the candles on the kinara does matter. Also, on the second page of the book the children are wearing lipstick. My spouse wouldnever allow my daughter to wear that much make up. I think this is true of mostAfrican American women.
