When I purchased this I was looking for a simple and fairly accurate biography. When I found it was more of a commentary... I was planning on being disappointed. I also am leary of people those in the ministry who profess a deep wisdom and express a lot of profundity. It turns out I had nothing to worry about. It is very readable and easy to relate to. As a member of the Neocatechumenal Way, I am studying Abraham in depth in order to share it with the rest of the community. In my humble opinion, this is an ideal book for this task.

Abraham and God made a covenant, a covenant of faith, hope and a future of his hole future generations. Abraham trusted God beyond what most of us will ever be able to, his faith shows us what can happen when we follow God and when we follow Gods covenant. I enjoyed this book as I have everything I've read by Mr. Swindoll. However, be advised that this is as much a life application study as it is a biography. If your looking for the latter then this wouldn't be the book for you.That said this book provides an insight into the life and faith of Abraham that should inspire each reader to live godly lives.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this book by Charles swindoll. It has shown me the power of faith and the personal relationship that Abraham had with God. The journey of faith and the unbreakable covenant of God to all who believe.
I loved this book! The text is written in easy-to-digest chunks, very well-supported by Scripture, and is practical to anyone. I gained a more realistic perspective of Abraham, while seeing a more realistic perspective of myself, God’s amazing grace, and learned what a true “faith journey†looks like, Biblically and in my life. This book is definitely worth your time.
Marvelous book gives insight into culture and life challenges faced by Abraham and Sarah. Wonderful applications for today conclude each chapter.
